CERTIFIED DAYLIGHTING PRODUCTS

Do You Need a Certified Product?
Adding skylights to your industrial structure allows you to take advantage of natural light. This reduces the need for artificial lighting and, as a result, can substantially lower your energy costs. Since lighting is one of the largest expenses for industrial buildings, this can translate into significant savings.
FM Approvals
FM Approvals tests products and only grants their “FM Approved” mark to those that meet their rigorous standards for loss prevention, quality, technical integrity, and performance. They are an international leader in third-party certification and testing. Their worldwide certification process is backed by over a century of experience as well as scientific research and testing.
In order to become FM Approved, a product must undergo a rigorous process of review, testing, and auditing. Investigators visit the manufacturer’s facility and ensure all standards are met before approval is granted. Surveillance audits are also required to maintain approval status.

ICC-ES
The International Code Council (ICC) provides certifications through its evaluation service (ES). ICC-ES has over 90 years of experience and is an industry leader in technical evaluations of building materials, systems, and products. They ensure code compliance and manufacturers use ICC-ES reports as evidence of meeting code requirements. This makes it easy for you to determine whether the daylighting solutions you choose are up to code.
ICC-ES employs teams of highly experienced engineers, architects, and evaluation specialists in order to test construction products and technology. Their evaluation process is rigorous and reports are publically available.
Underwriters Laboratories (UL®)
UL is a global safety science leader and they offer comprehensive certification for products, ensuring that these meet all applicable standards and requirements.
In order for a product to have the UL Listed seal, it must be tested by UL, who will ensure it meets nationally recognized standards for safety and sustainability. Our two-door smoke vents are UL Listed.
OSHA
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) sets regulations to help ensure worker safety. This includes fall protection standards. OSHA classifies skylights as holes/openings because even though they are covered, they are not intended to withstand human impact during a fall or if someone leans on or walks over them. This means appropriate measures must be taken to secure skylights in order to protect anyone working on the roof.
We offer a variety of options for fall protection that are compliant with OSHA’s guidelines. These include burglar bars and external fall protection screens. Our polycarbonate domes also meet these requirements.
